I get to judge a Young Authors' Contest! Next Monday morning, I'll be at one of our local elementary schools, reading things written by kids who are in kindergarten through third grade. I'm really excited because I remember entering these contests when I was younger and now I am going to go behind the scenes and see how the judging works.

Awww. That's so cute. Be sure to give those 5-8 year olds some good hard criticism. Don't fall for any of that sentimental crap.

Which school is it? Sara's right - make sure you really come down on those kids hard. Show them what the real world is like.

Come on, you guys. When I'm at work or doing things through work, I am forced to be nice Lauren. I want to be asked to do this again (and not just to miss out on fun library work), so I'm going to be a good judge. The best judge they've ever had! I hear that they'll feed me too.

Okay, but if it's a story about Pokemon, they lose. Bunnies, bunnies are okay.
