Aw.

We have a lot of people who used to live in St. Bernard and Orleans parishes living near the library now. It's been depressing to hear their hurricane stories. Many of them have brought in pictures of their destroyed houses.

Some of the sadder incidents, however, have been when families come in to use the computers, and all of them are on the pet rescue sites, looking for their pets that were left behind.

why didn't they bring their pets!? Man, I've heard all kinds of stories about pets left behind. I can't think of too many instances where you have a valid excuse for leaving them there. If you've heard valid excuses, please share them with me. I would feel much better about people leaving their animals behind. I can understand if you were a cop or something and were planning on coming home to your pet, but why would you evacuate without putting your puppy in the car?

I do not know, Doug, and I wish that I did. I haven't talked to any of the people looking for their pets because other people have been helping them and I didn't really feel like being more depressed than I already was about the situation. I just don't know.
