Man, I've never been so ready for hurricane season to end as I am right now. I'm ever thankful that my family and friends are all safe and that most of their houses are alright.

Things were getting back to normal in my small world (work is open and super busy, I am living in my own house, stores are open) until this newest hurricane popped up and started being stupid.

My mom and dad's anniversary is today. They're in Shreveport with my aunt and grandparents because my grandma had brain surgery Thursday to remove a cyst on a tumor she has in her brain, which came from the lung cancer she's been fighting for a little over a year now. So Thursday morning was spent in a fairly tame work meeting, with me worrying about my grandma and this stupid hurricane Rita.

My mom called Thursday afternoon, though, and said that my grandma did very well through her surgery, and at that point I quit worrying about the hurricane because I was so happy to hear that things went well with her. The hurricane is probably going to stall near Shreveport while they're still up there, though, so that's just great!

On quite a different note, Banned Books Week officially starts tomorrow! Layla and I finished our display yesterday, and it's centered around quotes. I really like this one, but I didn't want to use it in the display because the source isn't really about book censorship, but it's still a good thing to remember. Eh, so you get to read it:

"The First Amendment says nothing about a right not to be offended. The risk of finding someone else's speech offensive is the price each of us pays for our own free speech. Free people don't run to court--or to the principal--when they encounter a message they don't like. They answer it with one of their own."
