My library is participating in a contest concerning Franklin Roosevelt sponsored by the History Channel. It's fun because we'll actually get to use some of those old newspapers that we played around with over the summer and I get to read about historical events and look at old photographs, which I like to do.

In my research, I came upon the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library where I found the Roosevelt Rap

I kid you not. It is a rap about FDR's life. It's wicked cool. I haven't been able to listen to it, but when I rapped it in my head, it sounded neat.

This reminded me of church yesterday. There is a youth mass thing that goes on, and the singers used songs from that mass. They're your contemporary popular Christian pop songs, such as "I Could Sing of Your Love Forever" and "Your Love is Extravagant."

It's hard not to laugh when your reading lyrics like this (from "I Could Sing of Your Love Forever"): Oh, I feel like dancing/it's foolishness I know/but, when the world has seen the light/they will dance with joy/like we're dancing now.

It's extra silly because we're in church and not dancing!

We didn't actually sing "Your Love is Extravagant," but just reading the lyrics was enough for me: Your love is extravagant/Your friendship mmmm intimate/I find I’m moving to the rythyms of your grace/Your fragrance is intoxicating in our secret place.

That is wacky.

You're going to have to rap it to me, before I hear it. Just like you did in your head.

That's contemporary popular Christian music? "Your fragrance is intoxicating in our secret place?" That's dirty!

Wow, that FDR rap is my new favorite rap. And being an avid fan of the hip-hop, that's saying a lot. E.R. is my new homegirl. It's strange that you said something about the music at church because at the 9:00 mass the manna choir tried to sing some upbeat baptist/gospel song. It was really funny - you shoulda heard it.

I want to educate you and inform you what the words to-You say"wacky dirty Christian lyrics" I must assume that you arent a christian.Maybe just name, but no personal relationship with Christ. The song "I could only imagine" You called it "I could sing of your love forever" is talking about the first time we see Christ! Imagining what we will do when we see Him. Jesus is called the "Light of the world" when the world see the light will they be excited also! Listen to the words. About Extravagent. God's love for us is Extravagant-He loves you so much, He sent his son to die for you. We must have a friendship w/ christ to know him personally. Its not going to church, our baptism, our membership that will get us to heaven , but having a personal relationship w/ him, relying on Hin strength,His word (bible). Rythyms of Grace- We are saved by His grace meaning undeserving favor,we all deserve to go to hell. But God saved us by grace by having Jesus bear our sins, if we just except Him as our savior. Secret place is the time we come to God in prayer, the bibe uses the term and Yes sometimes it so overwhelming when a person prays and they know God right there feeling their pain or grief. So please dont make fun when you have no idea of what your talking about.

Oh, do I know you? If not, I really don't care what you say because I still think both of the songs I discussed are wacky. Also, I didn't say dirty--that was Doug. Get it straight!

Personally, I'm not making fun. I read the lyrics.. you don't even have to try to read into them. They're dirty (and silly). You'd have to be naive to think otherwise. Not to mention, Lauren had said it was silly that they sung "like we're dancing now," and they were not dancing. Which means they were LYING! And that's another sin that Jesus is going to have to bear. Just because a bunch of silly people wanted to sing a song and LIE! Yeah, I'm not actually Christian. I used to be, but I questioned how people that are ugly to each other and put down their fellow man can consider themselves good Christians. Behavior did not follow belief, so I went down a different path. Lauren, I'm so proud. You've got your first random person comment!

And as usual, Doug, you're the one bringin' them in. I don't subscribe to the whole "Buddy Christ" thing anyway. I'm not a Christian anymore either, but I think the idea of God should exist to teach Man humility. Hypocrisy stems from those claiming God's their personal friend, when really all they want is some personal petty favor granted or to be instantly forgiven for their own sins. And Lauren, I totally get you. I always think it's silly when any hymns mentioning "singing with joy" and people sound like they're at a funeral.

Yo, people! even the ones on here who proclaim to "know" about these songs are wacky! I could sing of your love Forever" was correct to begin with... and you're right... the lyrics to "Your love is exstravagant" are a little out there, but i sing it all the time... it's a cool tune... man, you people need to get out more..
