Holy crap, it's March.
I have a problem. I shouldn't be allowed to read books. This only applies to fiction. I have no problem reading nonfiction.
You see, Shawn left my apartment around 9:30 last night because we were both falling asleep. It would have been so easy for me to walk to my bed and sleep for a really long time and wake up super refreshed this morning, but I didn't do that. I decided to pick up Prep, a book that I read about in Newsweek a few weeks ago.
Funny story about that: The library didn't have a copy of the book so I put in a request for it. My boss is the librarian who orders fiction. She came out of her office with the book the day she got my request. I was so confused, but she had an advance reader's copy of the book that she let me borrow when she was done reading it.
Anyway, I stayed up until 2:30 last night/this morning reading this book. It was pretty good, nothing life changing, though. And there is my problem. I am unable to put a bookmark in a book and stop reading it. It's awful, really, and I don't know why I can't choose to stick a bookmark when I'm done with a chapter and pick it up the next night. I slept until 10:00 this morning, though, so I guess I still got enough sleep.
This entry is closed to new comments. Sorry.

I wanted to read Prep but couldn't figure out if I would like it or be annoyed by it. Have you read The Secret History? Is it like that, except without the secret Greek societies and the ritual killings and bacchanals? Because other than that, the characters in The Secret History were pretty damned annoying.

I've never read The Secret History, but...boy, the main character in Prep was so annoying. I liked it and was annoyed by it, much like my relationship with Shawn. Kidding. What I did like, however, is Pledged: The Secret Life of Sororities. There's nothing like reading about a few cool sorority girls to remind you how stupid people can be.
